CHAPTER V

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

5.1 Conclusion

The writer took an apprenticeship in big company under government authority, Perum Perhutani KBM INK Unit II Jawa timur which was located in Margomulyo street industry and warehouse centre. Perum Perhutani KBM INK is a branch company which accepted supply from many produces spread around Jawa Timur area. They traded non wood commodities such as Gum Rosine, Copal, Turpentine, Seedlack both in domestic and foreign country. Particularly in export term, there were two kinds of export procedures, export with L/C and export with non-L/C (Shipping Instruction). The differences of them were L/C needed bank involvement and Non-L/C needed special documents, shipping instruction.

There were some documents needed such as COS (confirmation of sales), L/C (letter of credits, shipping instruction, Delivery order, PEB, PE, and bill of lading. Both L/C and shipping instruction need documents such as invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, letter of indemnity, shipment detail, inspection report, beneficiary certificate, and also certificate of analysis.
According to the writer experience, although the writer did not experience direct to fulfill documents, in the process of documentation, Perum Perhutani KBM INK made some mistake such as incorrect or inadequate of documents. Even though Perum Perhutani KBM INK was a big company, but discrepancies reflected weakness of business management.

5.2 Suggestion

For the company
An important function of export documentation is to assure that collection proceeds according to the agreed terms of the sale and that payment is received by the exporter.
In a typical letter of credit transaction, the exporter anticipates receipt of funds once the goods are shipped. While this may be true in theory, in practice the exporter will only receive payment once the required documentation is received and approved by the confirming bank. This process can prove to be quite difficult if mistakes are found.
The bank scrutinizes the documentation so closely because it never sees the freight. Discrepancies in documentation cause extra expense, payment delays and aggravation.
In order to minimize letter of credit problems:
 Select banks with which you have a working relationship.
 Construct a letter of credit checklist which details the necessary documents, their format and all pertinent information. This list must be reviewed and managed as part of the export process to ensure accuracy and compliance.
 Before a deal is completed, make sure all requirements of the letter of credit can be met, that all costs of compliance have been taken into consideration and that responsibility has been assigned regarding payment for changes or discrepancies in the letter of credit.
 Those who can master the documentation details and demonstrate the diligence needed to do the job correctly will show greater profits and have more time to execute bigger and better export sales

For Business English study program
The suitability between the curriculum of courses and the apprenticeship is very important. Hopefully, it can be followed in the next apprenticeship because during the apprenticeship the writer had experienced many support factors which made the program execution could be done well. The suitability between curriculum of courses and the company make the execution of program easier.
Moreover, keeping the relationship between the company and the university is important factor in this case. On the other hand, the guidance from the lecturers should be given clearly and surely because confusion make student harder in arrange the apprenticeship report although they have good point in apprenticeship.
